Is Looking Up

Amongst the descriptions of D.O.D. on his website is that of Flanneur which (bear with us) Baudelaire characterised as ‘a gentleman stroller of city streets’. Now it is a reasonably well known fact (to comedy fans anyway) that O’ Doherty is a keen cyclist. Therefore it may be wise to take his biographical details with a soupçon of salt. He also mentions that he was 1990 East Leinster under 14 triple jump bronze medallist. Were you David? Were you really?

What we do know for sure is that in 2008, his show ‘Let’s Comedy’ won the if.com award (formerly the Perrier). Like many a genius before him, he has created an entire genre. It’s called ‘Very low energy musical whimsy’.  And like almost everyone who creates a genre, he is staggeringly good at it.
