Welcome

Of all the comedy festivals in all the towns in all the world, you had to walk into this one…

Hello and welcome to the Bulmers Galway Comedy Festival.

It’s really nice of you to come.

We’ve spent the last year figuring out how to make a great festival even better. Without so much as a fig leaf of modesty, let us say that 2011 is the best line up we’ve ever put together.  Tim Minchin is coming to town. Dylan Moran will be here. Andrew Maxwell’s in the gaff. The Rubber Bandits are ready to party. Oh look, is that Rich Hall? He’s over there with Ardal O Hanlon and David O Doherty. They’re about to go for a pint of Bulmers with Neil Delamere and Colin Murphy.

If you fancy some theatre, we’ve got a world premiere of Conor Montague’s Who Needs Enemies 2. Hungry? Get yourself over to The Faulty Towers Dining Experience. Scott Capurro’s Chat show is on. There’s Gerry Mallon’s lunchtime comedy, late night Joker Poker, a festival club in the Roisin Dubh, Stand up Showdown for the up and comers, a host of Edinburgh shows in venues throughout the city and honest to God, a Donkey Derby.

With a massively diverse range of well known, alternative and burgeoning talent, we are positive you’re going to enjoy the line up as much as we have in putting it together. If you are reading this in Galway and it’s the Bank Holiday Weekend, you’re about to have a whole lot of fun. And if you’re not get your ass, or even your donkey, down here now.

Welcome to the best party city in Ireland.

I think this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
